The third Element of the Spiral Path is Fire, corresponding with the cardinal direction – South. Here ideas combine with action; so this is the realm of Creativity.
From the cool airy East we contemplate, but it’s in the warmth of the South that we are moved into transformation.
My main artistic outlet these days is altered portrait photography and digital collage. I do like the word “altered”, invoking an idea of the sacred and of ritual. I’m working on a series of Goddess Portraits; beginning with some of my lovely dancer friends and goddesses. That will be coming soon!
Some of my images are created with some purchased illustrations from Dreamstime that I extract and put onto my own created backgrounds, or vice-versa. I often add some scruffy overlays and an embellished frame.
In my digital collages or montages, I usually use multiple images layered together, but sometimes just filters and effects on a single image. Portraits usually have a single main subject, but I do like landscapes and other kinds of artwork too!
