Contemporary Exotic Dance is just my catch all phrase for a myriad of dance forms. Personally, my big three are fusion-style belly dance, pole dance and burlesque.
But I think of any movement form that celebrates a woman’s beauty, creativity and body confidence can be a contemporary exotic dance. As long as it involves music, costuming and loosely choreographed movement with the intent to perform for an audience, (however small), it’s fair game! So I would certainly think hooping, poi and aerial silk as performance arts that fall into the “contemporary” and “exotic” format.
I’m drawn to all kind of dance and performance art, but honestly! There’s only 24 hours in a day and I have to sleep eight of them, earn a living, shower and do laundry…
